A 13-year-old boy suffered minor injuries Saturday morning after a tumble on Mount Timpanogos.

The boy was hiking with friends when he fell about 8 a.m., said Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon. Initial calls reported the boy fell 200 yards, but Cannon said it was likely a shorter distance — or more of a slide than a fall — as the boy was conscious and alert when responders arrived.

Because of the remote location, the boy was transported by helicopter to a parking lot lower down in American Fork Canyon, Cannon said, where his dad was waiting to drive him to the hospital.

The boy had no broken bones, but was cut and bleeding from the head. He was expected to recover.
