Vandals toppled 22 trees in South Jordan this week, following a string of similar destruction in West Jordan.

Police discovered the damaged trees — many snapped in half at the trunk and others stripped of their branches — near 3200 West and 9800 South on Friday morning, according to a news release from South Jordan police. Officers say there's more than more than $7,000 worth of damage.

The department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved.

The offer comes one day after West Jordan put forward $750 for help locating those responsible for toppling more than 60 trees in the area of 2200 West from 7800 South to 9000 South, including Veterans Memorial Park. The damage there was estimated at more than $40,000, with many of the trees requiring replacement.

Anyone with information on who is causing the damage in either city is asked to call 801-840-4000.
