A Monroe man has been arrested in the June slaying of his 1-year-old daughter.

Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis on Friday confirmed that David Lewis Anderson, 37, was being held in the county jail on suspicion of second-degree felony child abuse homicide. Anderson's bond was set at $20,000 — cash only. He is scheduled for his first appearance in 6th District Court on Aug. 23.

Anderson was arrested on Wednesday after the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office reported to the sheriff's office that the death of the child, Siri Anderson, appeared to have been a homicide.

"We believe the facts of the case show David L. Anderson is directly responsible for the death of his daughter, Siri," Curtis stated.

Curtis did not detail the means of the child's death, and he did not immediately respond to inquiries seeking the autopsy's specific findings.

Anderson had sole custody of the infant for three months prior to deputies, responding to a 911 call, found the girl unresponsive in her crib on June 7. The child was rushed to Sevier Valley Hospital, where she was later declared dead.
