Vandals spray-painted obscenities at a Hurricane school and park early this week.

Officers discovered the graffiti at Hurricane Middle School (395 N. 200 West) and Hall Park (397 N. 200 West) on Tuesday, according to a news release from Hurricane police. The vandalism, which included the phrase "F—- the police," likely occurred late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

"This is a complete act of disregard for property and respect for the community," the release states.

The writings, some of which were still being deciphered, were scrawled in black paint. Employees with Washington County School District and Hurricane City Parks spent hours cleaning the graffiti, said Hurricane police Sgt. Brandon Buell, though there was no cost estimate for the damage.

Investigators were reviewing surveillance footage from the areas for possible leads. They ask anyone with information on the incident to call 435-627-4999.
