Firefighters battled a 5-acre field fire early Monday morning in Ogden, and it may have been a case of arson.

No structures were lost and no injuries occurred in fighting the 4:08 a.m. grass fire near 16th Street and Harrison Boulevard, Ogden Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bauman said.

One home was briefly evacuated, but residents were allowed back when the danger subsided.

It was the second grass fire near the Ogden River Parkway in as many days. The first blaze occurred at 1:09 a.m. Sunday near 1544 S. Park Blvd. and took crews several hours to extinguish. It burned about 3 acres, but did not threaten any structures.

However, Monday morning's fire was just west of Sunday's blaze, and early on threatened five homes.

Bauman said that both fires now are believed human-caused.

"We are encouraging the public to be aware and report any suspicious activity by calling the Weber Dispatch non-emergency line at 801-629-8221," Bauman said.
