Salt Lake City police say a man tried to win an argument with a gun. Now, he's behind bars.

SLCPD Detective Greg Wilking said the incident occurred about 7:45 p.m. Monday near 2900 S. 1400 East. Two men in their 60s, who had a history of past disputes, were involved in a heated dispute when one of them pulled out a handgun and pointed it at his foe.

A neighbor tried to intervene, only to have the handgun pointed at him, too, before the suspect left the area, police said.

Police officers responding to a 911 call located the suspect at his home nearby and arrested him.

The man was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.
