A 4-month-old baby girl died in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning, and Provo police arrested the driver — who was allegedly drunk — on suspicion of automobile homicide.
Chelsea Fuller, 29, was driving on Oakmont Lane near 800 North at about 4 a.m. Thursday, when she veered off the road, hit a tree and rolled the SUV, according to a news release from Provo police.
Responding officers pried open the windshield to get Fuller out of the car, as well as the baby, Brylee McClellan, and the baby's mother, Susanne McClellan, 38.
Brylee McClellan was transported to Primary Children's Hospital, where she died from her injuries about 8:40 a.m., the release states.
Susanne McClellan suffered head and neck injuries. Neither Fuller nor Susanne McClellan were wearing seat belts, and Brylee McClellan was not in a car seat, police said.
Investigators allegedly found that Fuller's blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit of 0.08. She was booked into Utah County jail on suspicion of second-degree felony automobile homicide and third-degree felony driving under the influence, as well seat belt violations.
The Utah County Attorney's Office was considering charges of reckless endangerment against Susanne McClellan, police said.
