A 74-year-old bicyclist was in fair condition Friday after colliding with an SUV in a Millcreek intersection.

Unified Police Detective Chuck Malm said the man had the green light when he rode west into the intersection of 3435 S. 2300 East at 11:09 a.m. A Honda SUV made a left turn into his path, and the bicyclist collided with the vehicle.

Ther rider was propelled over the SUV's hood and into its windshield before landing on the asphalt.

Malm said the man was wearing a helmet, but he still sustained significant head and other injuries from the impact and landing.

He was rushed to University Medical Center, where he has since been upgraded to fair condition with hand and leg injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a 79-year-old woman, was not hurt.
