Firefighters quickly contained a 1-acre grass fire that had did minimal damage to tin sheds in Herriman on Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.

The fire was located near 13700 South and 7300 West, according to Unified Fire Authority spokesman Taylor Sandstrom.

A call came in just before 4 p.m., Sandstrom said, and about 40 firefighters headed to the scene. At about 4:30 p.m., the blaze was contained.

Medium and short grasses burned quickly, Sandstrom said, but were easily extinguished by the firefighters.

Three buildings, which Sandstrom described as tin sheds, had "a little bit of scorching," but they were not seriously damaged.

A lot of crews were dispatched "right off the bat," Sandstrom said.

A firework caused the fire, he said, and investigators did not think it was intentional.
