A man accused of shooting his brother jumped in Jordan River on Saturday to flee from police.

The 36-year-old man allegedly fired a handgun at his brother during a dispute about 8 p.m., according to a news release from Salt Lake City police. The victim then apparently wrestled with the shooter, who purportedly shot him in the neck and back near 1200 West and 300 South. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital.

The other brother fled the scene, but was later tracked down by officers at the Jordan River, the release states. Police had a K-9 pull him out of the water, when he would not do so willingly.

He was treated for a dog bite at a local hospital, the news release states, before being booked in jail for felony charges of domestic abuse and discharging a firearm.
