Unified Police were investigating a fatal shooting in Midvale on Monday night.

Two men were talking in a garage area behind a strip mall near 7940 S. State Street, said UPD Detective Ken Hansen. The conversation got heated, Hansen said, and one man pulled out a gun about 8:50 p.m.

He allegedly shot and killed the other man, identified as Michael Anderson, 52. A possible suspect, whose identity was withheld, was being questioned. The shooter may have acted in self-defense, Hansen said.

He also said it's likely the two man have had confrontations in the past.
