A 54-year-old woman was in "very critical condition" Monday after she was hit by a truck while crossing a street in Bountiful.

The woman was walking east on 100 South about 10:25 a.m., said Lt. Dave Edwards with Bountiful police. When she walked into the intersection to cross 200 West, a truck turning left onto the street struck her.

The driver told police he did not see the woman, Edwards said. He stopped, attempted to aid her and called police.

The woman was transported to University Hospital with critical injuries.

Police were investigating the crash, but do not believe the driver of the truck was impaired.
