The weather theme for Utah's Pioneer Day holiday weekend: dry, sunny and hot.

Temperatures will near 93 Saturday in Salt Lake City, climbing to 101 by Monday, the National Weather Service predicts.

Northern Utah will be slightly cooler, as a cool air mass moves across the region. In Logan, temperatures will be about 90 Sunday, rising to 95 by Monday.

St. George will reach 106 on Saturday, dropping a few degrees to 103 on Monday.

Conditions will be mostly dry statewide, with a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms at higher elevations over central and eastern Utah.

Air quality readings early Saturday were green, or good, at all but one of the monitoring stations, according to the state's Department of Environmental Quality.

Smoke from area wildfires, however, could increase the concentration of particulates. DEQ recommends those with heart and respiratory conditions monitor the condition and reduce physical exertion or outdoor activities as necessary.
