Two homes were damaged in a fire northeast of Pleasant View on Friday night.

The Pole Patch Fire, which started about 5 p.m., burned 89 acres near a residential area at the base of a mountain in Weber County, said Shayne Ward, Department of Natural Resources spokesman.

The blaze burned in the attic of one house and scorched the siding and fencing of another, though both residences are inhabitable and have "no significant damage," Ward said. Two sheds also burned, and a barn was partially scorched.

An evacuation for 25 homes was lifted about 8:30 p.m. Friday. Firefighters planned to remain on the scene throughout the night.

Crews had the fire 40 percent contained by 10 p.m., Ward said, and were expecting "nothing super active."

The cause had not been determined Friday night, but the fire started in the brush of a grassy area behind the homes.
