Salt Lake City is hosting an open house Wednesday to discuss phase 2 of the 1300 South reconstruction project.

The public is invited to learn more about it and to offer feedback.

The meeting will be held at the Sorenson Unity Center, 1383 S. 900 West, Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

One lane of traffic will be open in each direction to accommodate the first major portions of the work currently under construction. In September, the plan calls for the construction area to be closed for three to four weeks, including on-ramps and off-ramps to Interstate 15.

Current and alternate plans will be reviewed with the public at the open house.

The 1300 South reconstruction project began in 2014 with work from State Street to 400 West. Phase 2 involves reconstruction of the area from 400 West to 500 West. The project, funded by a $2.6 million construction bond, improves safety for pedestrians and cyclists by realigning sidewalks, updating pedestrian ramps, and improving lighting under the I-15 overpasses.
