Members of the Sigma Chi fraternity in Salt Lake City were awakened early Thursday morning to the sound of male voices outside yelling to be let inside.

When they were not allowed in, three male suspects went to the west side of the frat house, located at 1395 E. 100 South, and broke a basement window to gain entry.

Salt Lake City police were called at about 1:50 a.m., as the intruders were yelling loudly and making their way to the third floor, according to a police watch command report.

First to arrive was a K-9 sergeant, who was directed by frat members to an upstairs room.

There, he and his dog detained the suspects until more officers arrived.

The three men were eventually identified as "fraternity alumni in good standing: who were apparently there to relive some of the glory days," according to the police report.

Once the situation was clarified, the resident frat members decided they did not want to press charges.

No arrests were made and no citations issued.

The officers, however, decided to document the case and potentially screen trespassing and criminal mischief charges with prosecutors.

An investigation was on going, police said.
