Firefighters are calling an early Thursday morning, two-alarm blaze that destroyed an Orem home suspicious.

About 3:30 a.m., flames and smoke were reported pouring from a house at 370 S. 650 East. Firefighters from Orem and neighboring Provo and Pleasant Grove were able to bring the blaze under control about three hours later.

The home was deemed a total loss, having sustained its heaviest damage as flames spread into the roof and attic.

Public safety dispatchers reportedly became suspicious when they noticed that the 911 call reporting the fire came from outside Orem, and that the caller was not on the scene. Police were trying to locate the caller to learn more.

Two residents, although uninjured, were displaced. A number of pets initially were missing, but later found alive and uninjured, an Orem Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Peterson said.
