Cruz booed. "Lock her up." Trump's big night is here.

Happy Thursday. Convention-goers have created their own slogan for the 2016 campaign that has some uncomfortable — "Lock her up!" Usually in reference to Benghazi or her private email scandal, the chant shows just how little the Republican crowd think of Hillary Clinton. [<a href="http://www.newsweek.com/lock-her-slogan-republicans-hillary-clinton-donald-trump-ted-cruz-482503"; target="_blank">Newsweek] [<a href="http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/rnc-2016-lock-her-up-chant-hillary-clinton-225916"; target="_blank">Politico]

Topping the news: Texas Sen. Ted Cruz unleashed a surreal scene at the convention as it slowly dawned on delegates that he wouldn't be endorsing Donald Trump, instead he said "vote your conscience." The sustained applause turned into a few cat calls and ended in a wave of boos. Utah's delegation said they were upset at how Cruz was treated. Others thought Cruz was in the wrong. [<a href="http://www.sltrib.com/news/4140123-155/cruz-refuses-to-endorse-trump-sparking"; target="_blank">Trib] [<a href="http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865658429/VP-candidate-Pence-key-to-showing-Utah-GOP-theyre-on-same-page-as-Trump.html"; target="_blank">DNews] [KUTV] [<a href="http://www.npr.org/2016/07/21/486855211/worst-possible-place-worst-possible-time-trump-cruz-feud-flares-anew?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=politics&utm_medium=social&utm_term=nprnews"; target="_blank">NPR] [NYTimes]

-> The Cruz debacle overshadowed Indiana Gov. and Trump's running mate Mike Pence, who gave a workmanlike speech painting the presidential nominee's unorthodox and combative style as "distinctly American."
