A 65-year-old woman is dead after her ATV rolled in Emery County on Monday afternoon.

The woman, from Pleasant Grove, was riding in Cottonwood Canyon on the road leading to Indian Creek Campground, according to a news release from Emery County Sheriff's Office.

She went down a steep grade at about 20 mph and the ATV skidded around a curve about 3:30 p.m. The motor vehicle flipped and rolled over the woman, the release states. She was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

The woman's husband, who was riding behind her, and a couple in the area attempted to help the woman, but were not successful. The husband called police about 30 minutes after the crash as he had to ride down the canyon several miles to get cell service.

Police are not releasing the woman's name, pending family notification.
