A 23-year-old woman is dead after a crash in Emery County on Friday night.

Cali Trunnell, from Paradise, Utah, was traveling east on U.S. Highway 6 behind an SUV about 4 miles west of the Green River, according to a news release from Utah Highway Patrol.

The left rear tire fell off the SUV and rolled into the westbound lanes about 8:45 p.m. A pick-up truck driving west swerved to miss the wheel and veered into eastbound traffic near mile marker 298.

The 45-year-old driver of the truck struck the driver's side of Trunnell's sedan. Trunnell died on impact, the release states.

In swerving to avoid the crash, another sedan traveling behind Trunnell's car sideswiped the truck.

A 14-year-old passenger in Trunnell's car was transported by helicopter to a hospital for a broken nose and bruising.

There were no other injuries reported in the crash. Police are investigating what caused the SUV's tire to break from its axle.
