Saturday may have been cooler than normal in northern Utah, but the law of averages will play out Sunday.

The valleys along the Wasatch Front return to the low-to mid-90s, according to the National Weather Service. That's mild compared to St. George, where the temperature is expected to reach 107 degrees on Sunday.

Temperatures will rise again Monday, the Weather Service says. The Wasatch Front valleys will reach the high 90s. The temperature could reach 109 in St. George.

The heat will increase the fire risk and make things more difficult for firefighters. Relief might not arrive until Thursday night when there's a chance of showers in central and southern Utah.
