The Box Elder County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who apparently drowned Tuesday in the Cutler Dam Canal as 18-year-old Francisco Isreal Hilera of Millville.

Chief Deputy Dale Ward said Wednesday that Hilera was one of six young adults who allegedly had trespassed in order to swim in the privately-owned canal when he disappeared late Tuesday afternoon.

As the group floated down the canal, grabbing an overhead flume to stop their progress, Hilera missed and continued downstream, where he went under the water.

Hilera's body was found by search and rescue personnel at 9 p.m., and turned over to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
