A 23-year-old woman allegedly fired a shot outside of a Magna bar early Saturday morning during an argument with other patrons.

The single shot did not hit anyone, according to Unified Detective Ken Hansen. People involved in the 1:16 a.m. altercation at the Power Plant, 2700 South 8987 W., took the gun away from the intoxicated woman before she could fire again, Hansen said.

Officers booked the woman into Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, Hansen said, and she likely will be released Tuesday.

The woman suffered a minor cut to her hand from a knife inside her purse when reaching for the gun, police say. The stray bullet did not cause any damage to the surrounding area.
