South Jordan • Part of a new transit-oriented development broke ground Tuesday at the South Jordan FrontRunner Station.

Murray-based, high-tech company InMoment launched a project for its new headquarters, to be located in one of two, six-story 180,000-square-foot office buildings planned at the project, called SoJo Station.

Also planned at the site are a parking structure — to be shared by businesses and FrontRunner passengers — and a 192-room Embassy Suites hotel and restaurant.

The project is being built on land owned by the Utah Transit Authority, in what has been part of its parking lot at the FrontRunner station. In exchange for the land, UTA says it receives partial ownership in a real-estate joint venture entitling UTA to a proportionate share of profits.

UTA has said it is involved in transit-oriented developments to help build ridership on its train lines, and to help offer attractive services, residences and businesses nearby.

"When it came to selecting a site for our new global headquarters, we wanted a place that reflects our innovative technology and culture, where we can continue to grow and prosper," said InMoment Founder and CEO John Sperry.

InMoment (formerly Mindshare Technologies) was founded in 2002. It operates what it describes as "a cloud-based customer experience optimization platform that helps brands leverage customer and employee stories to inform better business decisions."

Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams said at the groundbreaking, "We're happy see a Utah company that chooses to make Utah its home," instead of moving out-of-state when it outgrew its present building.

"We are happy that they are choosing to locate near transit," where it will be easy for employees up and down the Wasatch Front "to hop on a train and get to work," he said.

Before the groundbreaking, 100 InMoment employees rode FrontRunner to attend the ceremonies.
