West Valley City police were investigating a likely homicide Monday night after a woman's body was found at a home.

Investigators found a 34-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds near 3000 South and 7200 West after receiving a tip at about 9:15 p.m., according to the West Valley City Police Department.

"A family member found the woman in the backyard of the residence," said Roxeanne Vainuku, West Valley City police spokeswoman. "It's not clear if she was killed on the property or moved there."

They were questioning neighbors late Monday.

Police received a call about a drive-by shooting at the same address earlier in the day. No one was hurt in the earlier incident, but investigators found a shell casing at the scene, Vainuku said. Nobody was detained in that investigation, the department said, and police are investigating whether the incidents are linked.
