A father was killed and his son wounded early Saturday during a shooting at a party in Holladay, police said.

The victims were identified as 46-year-old Darrin Jackson and 26-year-old Jonathan Jackson, who was shot in the arm.

Unified Police Department Lt. Lex Bell said officers were sent at 2:34 a.m. to Darrin Jackson's in the apartment near 1800 E. 4900 South on a report of shots being fired.

Bell said the officers learned that six or seven people initially were at the party and seven to nine more had shown up. A confrontation led to a fight, followed by gunshots, he said.

The father died at the apartment and the son was taken to a hospital. He is expected to recover.

A motive for the shooting is unknown, Bell said. Some of the people at the party ran away after the shooting, he added, and the witnesses who stayed have not provided much information.
