The body of a person believed to be Stacy Jo Morrill, who has been missing since Sunday, was discovered Friday afternoon by family members in rural Utah County.

The remains were found a little before 3 p.m. near U.S. Highway 6 between mile post 144 and Dividend Road, a few miles east of Eureka and about 2 miles from where Morrill's car had been abandoned, Utah County Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.

The area surrounding the body was "rugged terrain" covered with ravines, Juniper trees, and Sage Brush. Cannon said it was "not in an area where people driving by would see her."

Family members who had been searching for 52-year-old Morrill came across the body and contacted law enforcement, Cannon said.

There was no immediate indication of violence that may have caused her death, Cannon said, but officials plan to take the body to the state medical examiner's office.

Investigators were also interviewing family members to get more information about Morrill's history and state of mind when she was last seen.

The Millard County woman was reported missing after her SUV was found Sunday in a remote part of southwestern Utah County, police said Monday.

A man and woman driving in the area Saturday evening had seen Morrill's Jeep with its doors open, but attributed it to someone sightseeing in the area. When the same couple drove by the Jeep again Sunday evening, they saw that the doors were still open and called 911.

Morrill, from Oasis, a few miles south of Delta, was last seen by her husband at their home sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday. She was believed to have taken as much as $3,000 in cash with her, but she reportedly had no credit cards, and she left her cellphone behind, police said.

Other than some knee problems, Morrill had no other known medical issues. Police indicated that she may have been experiencing emotional stress or could have been suffering from undiagnosed mental health issues.
