Salt Lake City police are hunting for a middle-aged man with a bandaged face they say robbed a Mountain America Credit Union.

SLCPD Detective Veronica Montoya said that the suspect — a thin man, about 50 years old, 5-foot-5, wearing a royal blue jacket and tan baseball cap, and with bandages on the right side of his face — walked into the credit union's offices at 1225 S. Redwood Road at 3:42 p.m. Wednesday.

He went to a teller and ordered her to "give him all the money," police said. The teller handed over an unspecified amount of cash and the suspect fled the business on foot.

The suspect did not threaten the teller or show a weapon during the robbery, Montoya said.

And as for his bandages, their purpose — whether the suspect was covering up tattoos, an outbreak of adult acne, or perhaps was really bad at shaving — remained a mystery, Montoya acknowledged.

Anyone with information on these suspects should call SLCPD at 801-799-3630, or anonymously text 274637 using the keyword TIPSLCPD.
