A Hinckley man is dead after an industrial accident at his workplace on Friday.

The Millard County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at about 9 a.m. reporting that a man allegedly had been crushed in a machine in the McCornick area, between Holden and Delta, a news release from the sheriff's office said.

When sheriff's deputies, an ambulance and a rescue truck arrived on the scene, they found 64-year-old Melquiadez Marquez dead.

Marquez had been operating a machine that is used to cut large bales of hay into smaller bales. As of late Saturday, the sheriff's office was unaware of any witnesses to the accident.

A coworker heard Marquez cry out and shut off the machine. He worked with others to free Marquez from it, but it was too late.

The Utah Medical Examiner's Office in Salt Lake City will be conducting an autopsy. Police were still investigating late Saturday the exact cause of death and how Marquez got into the machine.
