South Salt Lake police were trying to unravel what transpired before they apprehended three people in a tense traffic stop on Interstate 15.
SSLPD spokesman Gary Keller said a woman called 911 on Wednesday, claiming to have been prevented from leaving a residence the previous night. She described the suspects involved, along with their vehicle, and told police she had been threatened with a knife and that the trio may be armed with other weaponry.
About 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the car was spotted in South Salt Lake as it entered I-15 near 3300 South. With Utah Highway Patrol troopers providing backup, including closing down southbound lanes in the area, the car was pulled over and the driver and two passengers detained near the 400 North exit in Salt Lake City.
However, no arrests were immediately made. "We're still looking into it, trying to figure out what exactly happened, questioning everybody involved," Keller said.
