A 32-year-old West Valley City man was grazed by a bullet after a Tuesday confrontation in the parking lot of his apartment complex.

The shooting occurred at around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, as the victim was returning to his apartment, located in a complex at 3836 W. Rockwood Way (3390 South), West Valley City police spokesperson Roxeanne Vainuku said.

Following an argument in the parking lot, a suspect "fired several rounds," one of them grazing the side of the victim's head, Vainuku said. The shooter then drove away in an orange Chevy Avalanche, she said.

The victim was taken to a hospital. Police were looking for the suspect.

"It appears [the suspect and victim] may have known each other," Vainuku said, adding that police were still "looking into their relationship."
