A 10-mile stretch of Interstate 15 was closed for a couple hours Sunday afternoon after high winds tipped over three semi trucks in separate incidents on a curve four miles north of Brigham City.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry said the first semi truck crash, which wasn't carrying cargo, occurred at about 10 a.m. The truck was headed north on the highway in an open area exposed to wind. The crash at mile marker 369 blocked the left lane and part of the right lane, and northbound traffic was routed around the crash while emergency crews helped upright the truck.

The second crash occured an hour later at 11 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway at mile marker 366, when another empty semi tipped over. Perry said they had to use both lanes to lift the semi back up.

About 10 minutes later, another empty semi tipped over, blocking both northbound lanes.

At that point, Perry said they shut down the highway between mile marker 365 near Brigham City and mile marker 376 near Tremonton and redirected travelers to State Road 13 as an alternate route.

No one was injured in the crashes, according to Perry, and the stretch of highway re-opened at 1:45 p.m., but was still restricted for high profile vehicles.

Perry said the area was still experiencing winds up to 60 mph at 2 p.m.
