This fall, the Dixie State University Trailblazers will follow Brooks the Bison onto the field of Legend Solar Stadium.

In addition to a new mascot and school identity announced earlier this month, university representatives said Friday that the school's Hansen Stadium would be renovated and renamed following a $10 million donation by Legend Solar.

The donation is the largest in Dixie's history, allowing the school to move forward with planned updates to increase the stadium's seating capacity and construct a grandstand on the stadium's east side.

Legend Solar also announced the corresponding gift of a solar power system to be installed on Dixie's campus.

"We are proud to have Legend Solar partner with Dixie State as we trailblaze our way together into a bright, innovative and energy-efficient future," Shaun Alldredge, co-owner of Legend Solar and a Dixie alumnus, said in a prepared statement.

Legend Solar spokesman Mark Fredrickson said the new name will be added to the stadium structures in the coming months, but there is no current time line for when the renovation and construction will be completed.

"There are still some architecture and design stuff they need to work out first," he said. "They're planning on redoing the track before the [upcoming] football season."

In a prepared statement, Dixie's vice president of university advancement, Hurricane Republican Rep. Brad Last, expressed his appreciation for the $10 million donation.

"Words will never adequately express our appreciation," he said, "but we sincerely thank Legend Solar from the bottom of our hearts for making this project a reality."
