A man struck by a hit-and-run driver earlier this month in West Valley City has died of his injuries.

West Valley City police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku confirmed Friday that Kory Hansen, 38, had been taken off life support Thursday evening and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Hansen was hit as he walked along Redwood Road, near 2500 South, about 10 p.m. on April 6.

Witnesses said the driver, described as a Latino man in his 30s, was eating pizza when his dark-colored, late-model Honda Accord or Civic hit Hansen, and then left the scene.

Since the accident, Hansen had been at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call WVCPD at 801-840-4000.
