A woman walked into a Salt Lake City Maverik store and handed a note to the clerk claiming she had a weapon and wanted money.

The clerk wasn't convinced, though, and the would-be robber fled empty-handed from the business about 10 p.m. Monday, at 710 E. 2700 South.

A Salt Lake City police officer spotted the suspect a short time later on the street and arrested her.

Turned out she matched the description of a robbery suspect in a Sunday night restaurant holdup: a gap-toothed , 5-foot-7, 160-pound woman with short brown hair tucked under a blue baseball cap, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The woman, 27, was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of first-degree counts of aggravated robbery, as well as outstanding warrants for shoplifting and drug offenses.
