A 22-year-old Arizona woman died in multi-vehicle crash on southern Utah's State Route 59 near Hildale on Tuesday night.

Rachel Cawley, 22, from Centennial Park, Ariz., died at the scene, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said four vehicles were involved in the accident at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday, which also seriously injured a 16-year-old boy and left a mother and her young child with minor injuries.

Royce said the accident remained under investigation, but it appeared to have begun when the eastbound 16-year-old boy attempt to pass a slower-moving pickup truck, about 3 miles north of the Utah-Arizona border. The boy's Audi reportedly clipped the pickup and slid into a westbound Infiniti driven by Cawley, as well as a minivan.
