A building at the University of Utah's Research Park suffered about $250,000 in damage after dirty water leaked into the basement.

At about 7 p.m. Friday, water began leaking from a hole in the wall of the Williams Building, located at 295 Chipeta Way, said Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Mark Bednarik. Firefighters weren't sure where the water was coming from, but it carried a lot of mud into the 70,000 square feet of basement and office space.

About 25 employees were evacuated while firefighters diverted the water and pumped it to protect, among other things, a data center. Firefighters eventually stopped the leak and turned over the building to cleanup crews.

The fire department initially estimated damages of about $1 million, but school officials revised that estimate Saturday to about $250,000.
