A man was in critical condition after crashing on Interstate 15 in Lehi on Monday.

At about 4:45 p.m., the man was driving north on the freeway when he allegedly began swerving in his own lane, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce. To avoid hitting a semitruck in an adjacent lane, the man overcorrected and his sedan hit the concrete barrier, Royce said.

The car overturned and slid 100 yards.

Troopers shut down the northbound lanes long enough for a medical helicopter to land and take the man to the hospital. The man, whom Royce estimated to be in his late 60s or early 70s, was in critical condition.

UHP is still investigating the crash.
