Thousands of people were left in the dark Friday night in West Jordan and South Jordan for about two and a half hours.

About 3,450 homes and businesses lost power about 9:30 p.m. in the two cities, according to Rocky Mountain Power, and the lights were back on by just after midnight.

The cause of the outage is under investigation, according to spokeswoman Margaret Oler.
