A Carbon County man died Monday after he crashed his all-terrain vehicle into the back of a delivery truck.

Joseph Ruckavina, 89, was driving along 1100 North in an unincorporated part of the county north of Price, when he crashed into the back of the parked truck at 605 West, said Carbon County Sheriff's Detective Wally Hendricks. The crash occurred about 2:05 p.m.

A witness said Ruckavina appeared to be "looking down or distracted," then looked up and didn't have time to avoid the crash, Hendricks said. He was not wearing a helmet, Hendricks added. When deputies arrived, they couldn't find Ruckavina's pulse. Though the responders revived Ruckavina and he was conscious in the ambulance to Castleview Hospital in Price, he died Monday night.
