Four teenagers were arrested early Friday morning after police say they robbed a man at gunpoint then led officers on a high-speed chase.

At about 3:30 a.m., dispatchers received a 911 call from a man who reported that he had just been robbed by gunpoint in the parking lot of Walmart near 3100 S. 5600 West, according to West Valley City police officials.

The victim reported that he ran away from the suspect, but watched him jump into a dark-colored SUV leaving the parking lot.

A responding police sergeant spotted a dark GMC Envoy driving erratically near 4400 W. 3100 South, according to police, and tried to make a traffic stop.

But the driver refused to pull over, and led cops on a chase, with speeds reaching 85 mph.

A Unified Police officer eventually spiked the SUV's tires near 5400 S. 1330 West, and as the vehicle drove under the Interstate 15 overpass, the driver lost control of the car and went over the median, striking a pole and two large boulders.

Four teenagers then fled from the car, police officials said, but they were quickly arrested.

The SUV the teens were driving was listed as stolen out of Sandy, according to police, and four handguns found inside the car were taken in home burglaries in Sandy earlier Thursday evening.

The 17-year-old male driver, another 17-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were arrested. They were booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of aggravated robbery, possessing a stolen vehicle, fleeing on foot, resisting arrest, possession of a stolen gun and possession of drug paraphernalia.
