A West Valley City man shot and killed himself before firefighters found his body Wednesday inside his burning house, investigators say.

William Richerson, 45, also apparently set the fire in the house before he died, fire officials said in a media statement Thursday.

"Investigators have determined that fire was intentionally set and are not looking for any additional suspects," wrote West Valley City spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku.

Crews found Richerson's body about 10 feet from the door of the house, which is near 3300 West and 4400 South. An alarm was activated in the house about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, and neighbors reported seeing smoke from the house, fire officials have said.

The fire caused about $75,000 in damage to the house.
