A Juab County man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly threatened to kill a parole officer.

Police were called at around 2:40 p.m. after the 24-year-old Eureka man reportedly told someone that he had access to guns and threatened to kill an Adult Probation and Parole officer.

But when police arrived, they could not make contact with anyone at the Eureka home, according to the Juab County Sheriff's Office.

Because officers were not able to confirm that the suspect was in the home, they placed schools in Nephi, Mona and Eureka on lockdown, according to the sheriff's office. Police also locked down the Juab County complex, including the 4th District Court, as a precautionary measure. Eventually, those buildings and the schools were evacuated, according to a sheriff's office press release.

After a Utah County SWAT team arrived, officers were able to enter the Eureka residence and found the suspect "in an unresponsive state." Officials believe he may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and an ambulance was called to treat him before he was booked into the county jail on suspicion of terroristic threats, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
