Do you know a great teacher, principal or school volunteer? The Huntsmans would like to know about them.

Nominations for this year's Huntsman Awards for Excellence in Education will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, March 25.

"We recognize that our public schools are being called upon to accept more and more responsibility for educating our nation's children," Karen Huntsman said in a prepared statement. "It is our privilege to be able to single out and recognize those individuals who go above and beyond to ensure our children are fully engaged in learning and well equipped to be our nation's future leaders."

Each year, the Huntsman family recognizes 11 members of the education community with a check for $10,000. The awards include two teachers and an administrator from the elementary, middle school and high school academic levels, as well as a special education teacher and a community volunteer.

Winners will be announced May 13 at an awards banquet in Salt Lake City, spokeswoman Jodi Russell said. Nominations are requested from all areas of the state. Nominations require six endorsements and can be submitted by fellow educators, students, parents and anyone wishing to recognize great teachers, Russell said.
