Supporters of presidential candidate Bernie Sanders rallied in Salt Lake City on Saturday.

From City Creek Park, near North Temple and State Street, the Vermont senator's supporters marched to the City-County Building.

The same day, The Associated Press projected Sanders to lose the Democratic presidential primary in South Carolina to former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, according to exit polls and early returns.

However, Sanders, who calls himself a "democratic socialist" and has electrified young voters and white liberals, handily beat Clinton in New Hampshire. He came close to beating her in Iowa and Nevada.
