A 68-year-old man resident of a Weber County nursing home died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Thursday after his brother brought a gun to the room, sheriff's officers reported Friday.

Joseph Tribe Henderson was shot in the chest at the Washington Terrace Nursing Home, 400 E. 5350 South, Washington Terrace.

Deputies rushed to the facility at 4:38 a.m. Thursday after receiving a 911 call, according to a sheriff's office news release.

A nurse had heard the gunshot from the hallway, and medical personnel from the care center were performing CPR when the first deputy arrived. Henderson was later pronounced dead.

The man's brother — who was with the victim at the time of his death and had brought the gun to the room — was interviewed and has been cooperative with investigators, the news release states.

Henderson was staying at the facility as a patient and had numerous medical problems, according to the news release.

The death is still being classified as suspicious, but it appears it was probably a suicide, officials said.

Meanwhile, the investigation remains active pending an analysis of all the forensic evidence, according to the news release.
