Utahns can get a free dental checkup, reading glasses if they need them and a diabetes test, courtesy of the Junior League of Salt Lake City and its sponsors.

The Dental CARE Fair runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Horizonte Instruction & Training Center at 1234 S. Main St. It is first come, first served.

Attendees can get their teeth cleaned and examined. If follow-up care is needed, the Junior League will provide a voucher to get the issue addressed for little or no cost.

The Junior League has been holding free health fairs since 1992, mostly in July. But these smaller, dental-focused events were added in 2014, a reaction to the Affordable Care Act.

"It's not something covered with the ACA," said Cindy St. Clair, spokeswoman for the event. She said another will likely take place in April.
