Another storm is approaching the state as winter winds down, which might nudge Salt Lake City closer to reaching its average total snowfall.

Salt Lake City can expect a high temperature on Sunday of 53 degrees, before dropping to 46 on Monday as a storm brings a chance of rain and snow. Thus far this meteorological winter (measured as December, January and February), Salt Lake City has received about 30 inches of snow; the normal is 33.6, according to the National Weather Service.

St. George, meanwhile, can expect sunny skies and highs near 70 both Sunday and Monday.

Most of the mountains across the state are at a moderate risk for avalanches on Sunday, according to the Utah Avalanche Center. The Abajo and Moab-area mountains are at a low risk.

On Monday, most of the mountains will be at a low risk, except for the Uintas and Skyline-area mountains, which will remain at the moderate level.

The air remains healthy statewide, according to the Utah Division of Air Quality.
