Separate crashes caused major delays on two Utah highways Saturday afternoon, and sent one person to the hospital in critical condition.

About 11:20 a.m., a semi rollover closed eastbound Interstate 215 near State Street, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The semi, which was hauling steel, was "traveling too fast" and was "possibly cut off another vehicle when approaching the ramp," according to UHP.

"Our initial investigation indicates that the vehicle that was cut off pulled in front of the semi and applied its brakes to show his displeasure at the semi driver," a UHP news release reads. "The excessive speed of the semi combined with the reckless act of the second vehicle caused the semi to flip onto its drivers side."

Motorists were being advised to take an alternate route; the closure was expected to last until mid-afternoon.

A second accident, shortly before 1 p.m., closed Interstate 15 northbound at American Fork's Main Street/Pioneer Crossing, according to the Utah Department of Transportation and Lehi's Community Emergency Response Team.

A white Chevy pickup truck struck a cement wall and collided with two other vehicles, according to UHP. The driver of the pickup truck was flown to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Two other people went to the hospital in serious condition.

That crash was estimated to be cleared later in the afternoon.
