West Valley City police have identified a suspect in the shooting and wounding of two people at a park last November.

WVCPD spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said detectives believe that 18-year-old Oscar Valdiviezo Balderrama was the shooter in the Nov. 1, 2015, incident at Scottsdale Park, 3755 W. 3100 South.

Charges of aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm have been filed in 3rd District Court, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued, Vainuku said on Wednesday.

Balderrama — also known as Oscar Valdividezo and Arnolfo Valdividezo-Balderrama — frequents the West Valley area and also has ties in Tooele County, she added.

The shootings — allegedly stemming from an altercation earlier in the day — sent two males, one 20 and the other 17, to the hospital in serious condition. They have since recovered.

Anyone with information on Balderrama's whereabouts is asked to call WVCPD at 801-840-4000.
